Adeboye, Badenoch, Elumelu Among Most Reputable Africans

PASTOR Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Kemi Badenoch, member of the House of Parliament and Opposition Leader of the Conservative Party, and Tony Elumelu, chairman of the United Bank for Africa (UBA), have been recognised among the 100 Most Reputable Africans for 2025.

The prestigious list, released on Sunday by Reputation Poll International (RPI) in partnership with the Global Reputation Forum, also featured several other notable Nigerians and African leaders.

This year’s honourees represent men and women from a broad range of sectors, including technology, creative industries, sports, public service, academia, and environmental advocacy.

Among the honourees was Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu. His recognition stemmed from his leadership in bolstering the nation’s security, fostering enhanced cooperation between the military and other security and intelligence agencies.

Ribadu’s nomination was further strengthened by his recent coordination of successful operations to rescue kidnapped victims in northern Nigeria.

Speaking on the selection process, the organisers stated, “This is a celebration of African excellence and a call to recognise those shaping the future of the continent with their unwavering commitment to progress and innovation.”

They added that honourees were chosen for their significant local and global influence, as well as their ability to drive meaningful change.

The 2025 honourees were selected through a rigorous methodology based on integrity, ethical leadership, and dedication to societal well-being.

In addition, their impact on transformative projects, initiatives, and their recognition within their respective fields played a crucial role in their selection.

The roll of honour, as published on the organisation’s website, also included Dr Paul Enenche, founder of Dunamis International Gospel Church, Mr Cosmos Maduka, Chairman of Coscharis Motors, and Senator Gbemisola Saraki.

While Enenche and Adeboye have appeared on the list in previous years, Dr Daniel Olukoya, founder of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, was recognised for the first time.

Other honourees included Bala Wunti, Group General Manager of National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), and worship singer Osinachi Egbu, popularly known as “Sinach.”

President-elect of Ghana, John Mahama, who recently won a second term, Benedict Oramah, President of Afrexim Bank, and Mo Ibrahim, a Sudanese-British billionaire businessman, also featured prominently on the list.

Isatou Ceesay of The Gambia stood out for her advocacy in climate resilience and sustainable development. She has redefined sustainability by transforming plastic waste into economic opportunities for rural women, empowering many in the process.

Karen Matsiko of South Africa was celebrated for her achievements in finance and corporate governance. Her leadership in trade finance and sustainable practices within emerging markets has driven significant economic growth across sub-Saharan Africa.

Prominent figures such as former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr Jennifer Douglas, Managing Partner at Miyetti Law Firm, and Ogiame Atuwatse, the Olu of Warri, have also made the list in past editions.

Pastor William Kumuyi, founder of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, and Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, were among the distinguished honourees in the 2023 edition.
