Are You A Wine Or Strong Drinks Lover? Hear What Adeboye Says Will Happen To You

Ola Kiya, Reporting

Lovers of wine, alcohol and all forms of strong drinks, especially Christians, are on the voyage of self-ruination except they repent, says reverred Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

The 79-year-old gave the warning in the Open Heavens of Monday, December 20, 2021, titled ‘A Friend of a Mocker?’ with Proverbs 31:1-5 as the Bible Passage.

Rolling out biblical passages to buttress his point, the Man of God, fondly called Daddy GO by his admirers, averred that “you cannot afford to be a friend of alcohol unless you are ready to perish.”

He ruptured the commonplace stance of some Christians who often claim that ‘moderation’ is the watchword and not total abstinence from alcohol.

“In spite of the evil of strong drinks, it is unfortunate that many self-acclaimed children of God are now introducing ‘moderation’ to its consumption.

“This is one of the signs of the end time, which they themselves teach, but fail to acknowledge that they are victims of.

“Our memory verse today describes wine as a mocker and strong drink as raging. A classic example of a victim of wine was Noah. The Bible says:

“And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.”  Genesis 9:20-21

“Ordinarily, Noah the just man who found grace in the sight of God would not have gone naked but for the influence of the wine on him. Little wonder Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 6:12:

“… all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.”

“Noah was indeed mocked by the wine and likewise many others like him. Why would anyone want to keep indulging in a habit that is sure to ultimately destroy him or her?,” he queried.

According to him, “Proverbs 31:4 also clearly states that alcohol is not meant to be consumed by kings and princes.

“This Bible verse shows that Christians, as kings under the King of kings, must not consume alcoholic drinks, in order to be in our right minds at all times.

‘Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.’”

While praying to God to help his alcohol-loving readers overcome every deadly appetite for alcoholic drinks, the cleric admonished them to do this always:

“Anytime a drink is handed to you for consumption, ensure it contains no alcohol so you do not befriend a mocker that can destroy you.”
