Asteroid As Big As Skyscraper Swings By Earth

Micheal Chukwuebuka, Reporting

AN asteroid believed to be as big as New York City’s Empire State Building or a skyscraper, passed within 1.7 million miles of Earth on Friday.

According to our source, ABC News, there was no chance of it hitting earth since it passed seven times the distance from Earth to the moon.

NASA‘s Center for Near Earth Object Studies estimated the space is between 690 feet and 1,575 feet (210 meters and 480 meters) across. That means the asteroid could be similar in size to Chicago’s Willis Tower or New York City’s Empire State Building.

Stonix News reliably gathered from ABC News that, the asteroid, discovered in 2008, is designated as 2008 0S7.

It won’t be back our again until 2032, but it will be a much more distance encounter, staying 45 million miles (75 million kilometers) away.

Also on Sunday Feb. 4, 2024, another asteroid roughly half the size of 2008 0S7 will swing by, staying 4.5 million miles (7.3 million kilometers) away.
