Babcock Graduate Laments Joblessness After Spending ₦10 Million On Political Science Degree

By Micheal Chukwuebuka

A graduate of Babcock University has sparked online debate after revealing his struggle to secure a decent-paying job despite spending over ₦10 million on his Political Science degree.

In a video shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the young man expressed deep frustration over the lack of job opportunities one year after completing his studies at the private institution.

“Today makes it one year I graduated from Babcock University. The course I spent over ₦10 million to learn, I haven’t been able to use the certificate to get a job that pays ₦100,000,” he said in the now-viral video.

The graduate criticized the Nigerian education system, questioning the practical value of certain degrees in today’s job market. He described some academic programs as “useless,” arguing they fail to equip students with skills relevant to the workforce.

“I went to school to study a very useless course. Some people will not accept the fact. The only people with a future in this country are those who studied accounting, banking and finance, people in the medical field like nursing, med lab, and law,” he stated.

He further listed courses such as Public Administration, International Law and Diplomacy, History, and Food and Nutrition as having limited job prospects in Nigeria.

The video has since stirred reactions across social media, with users divided over his comments. While some agreed with his perspective on the employment challenges facing graduates, others defended the value of non-technical degrees and emphasized the importance of personal initiative and continuous skill development.
