Yakubu Dada, abducted on October 31, 2024, along Kontagora Road in Niger State, has been freed by bandits.
According to reports, Dada’s release occurred on June 2, 2025, after his family paid an additional N20 million ransom.
This brings the total ransom paid to N30 million.
Initially, the kidnappers received N10 million in November 2024. However, they later demanded N20 million and four Bajaj motorcycles, threatening to harm Dada if their demands weren’t met. Tragically, the bandits killed Dada’s wife, Lami, in early May, allegedly to pressure the family.

Dada, a retired civil servant from Minna’s Brighter Area, was kidnapped while traveling with Lami. Confirming his release, Dada’s eldest wife, Maimuna, stated that he was abandoned near Kotonkoro in Mariga LGA after the additional payment.
Maimuna revealed that the family had sold most of their belongings, including their home, cars, and valuables, to raise the initial N10 million ransom.
