Police Constable, Mary Yetunde Aina also known as Iron Abbey, who won the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International Super Bantamweight title belt in London recently, has been promoted to Corporal.
The elevation came on Monday during the visit and presentation of her trophy to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
In a statement on the official Facebook Page of the Nigeria Police Force, Iron Abbey was also reportedly given a cash reward for making the force proud.
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc today, 28th February, 2022 received the famous Police Constable, Mary Yetunde Aina (aka Iron Abbey), the winner of the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International Super Bantamweight title belt at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
“The IGP bestowed on her a special promotion to the rank of Corporal and some monetary reward for distinguishing herself greatly in the boxing sphere,” the terse statement read.
Stonix News had reported that Aina won the bout to clinch the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International Super Bantamweight Title Belt at the City Coast Centre in Portslade, East Sussex, London, on Friday February 18, 2022.
