CHEVRON Nigeria Ltd (CNL), operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and CNL Joint Venture, is aware of a misleading publication by an online media platform alleging that a certain CNL employee (referred to as the General Manager of EGP) was involved in “derailing” the employment of some graduates under the Vocational Training Programme (VTP) and Operations Training Programme (OTP) as regular staff of CNL.

This assertion is not only misleading but also entirely unfounded. Firstly, the referenced office or position of “General Manager of EGP” does not exist in CNL.
Additionally, CNL has always adhered to a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, ensuring equal opportunities for all qualified candidates, free from any external interference.
Regarding references to the VTP and OTP for some graduates several years ago, CNL affirms that the NNPCL/CNL’s sponsorship of these programmes was a corporate social responsibility initiative designed to train and develop specific skills and capacities of selected beneficiaries from local communities and other parts of Nigeria for the oil and gas industry.

According to Olusoga Oduselu, General Manager, Policy, Government & Public Affairs, in a statement made available to Stonix News, it was not a recruitment process into CNL, and the company made no commitments to the beneficiaries in this regard.
CNL is an equal-opportunity employer. Its recruitment process is transparent and fair, providing equal opportunities for all qualified candidates based on organisational requirements and business needs.
However, CNL encourages qualified candidates from communities neighbouring its operations to participate in its recruitment process.
CNL reiterates its commitment, within available resources and opportunities, to continue working with community stakeholders and other partners to maintain peace and contribute positively to sustainable community and socio-economic development.
