AS the mantle of leadership of the Delta State Ministry of Information officially changed hands today, putting to rest the weekend-long speculation in media circles in the state, the supervisory commissioner of the ministry of information and commissioner for works (Rural and Urban Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has dispelled rumours of Governor Oborevwori’s planned defection to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
At a well-attended press briefing on Monday at the conference hall of the Ministry of Information, Mr. Aniagwu dismissed the rumours as baseless as he said Oborevwori was a proud member of the PDP with “both his feet on the ground.”

While reeling out the developmental achievements of the administration in the different sectors, Aniagwu listed the Okpanam by-pass, the Beneku bridge in Ndokwa East, which put a stop to the long-time use of the pontoon as the major means of transportation in the largely riverine community, the Ogwashi-Uku-Ughelli dual carriageway, and the Ayakoromo Bridge in Burutu Local Government Area.
Aniagwu also mentioned the six-storey State High Court Building in Asaba which was started by the Okowa Administration and completed by the Oborevwori administration.
According to the commissioner, “Governor Oborevwori kept faith with the promise to complete inherited projects and begin new ones.”
While introducing new people-oriented projects across the state, the Oborevwori administration is working hard to complete sectors C1, C2, A and B of the Asaba-Ughelli road dualization project.
Mr. Aniagwu further revealed that the administration is embarking on road construction projects in Sapele, Warri South-West, Okpe, Issele-UkU and Aniocha North, a clear indication of its resolve to connect communities across the state for greater economic development.
While emphasizing the administration’s determination to do MORE for Deltans, Aniagwu re-iterated that despite the plethora of projects across the state, Governor Oborevwori had continued to be prudent and judicious in the application of state resources as he had not borrowed to finance these projects.
In the areas of education and healthcare, Aniagwu noted that the OborevworI administration is facilitating the accreditation of courses in state-owned institutions of higher learning as well as revamping health facilities across the state.
