The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has said that although he will never be a politician, Christians should never leave politics for witches and wizards in Nigeria.
The reverred cleric said he had never, at anytime, instructed members of the RCCG to vote for a particular candidate in any election, begging politicians not to distract him from his divine calling which is to pray for people and nations as a pastor.
Adeboye disclosed these on Sunday Service held at RCCG National Headquarters, Ebute Meta, Lagos, with the theme: “Waiting Without Wasting.”
He said his assignment from God was to pray for people and nations and not to join partisan politics, adding, however, that every member of RCCG has the right to join a political party, vote and be voted for.
“Politics is not my calling. I will never be a politician. That’s not God’s calling for me. That’s why I don’t have big titles.
“In RCCG, every party is mainly represented. I’m a father of all and I like it that way. I’m not a politician and I will never be. My ministry is pastoring, not politics.
“As a Nigerian, you must register, vote, and make sure that your vote counts. You are a Nigerian first before becoming a Christian.
“You must vote, monitor the counting and make sure there is no rigging,” he counselled.
The Ifewara-born octogenarian further disclosed that he wasn’t sure if election would take place in Nigeria come 2023 as God, like He used to do before now, hasn’t told him.
“As of now, I still don’t know whether or not there will be an election next year, yet.
“I don’t know because my Father has not spoken about it yet. The reason could be in Mathew-6-34.
“For your information, if anyone comes to me from any political party, I will pray for them, the general prayer point I pray for them is that ‘Father, let your perfect will for this person be done.’
“If witches are concerned about the affairs of the country, then Christians too must be concerned and involved,” he averred.
He reiterated that since his assignment is to pray for people and the nations, politicians should stop distracting him.
“I have never told my members who to vote for. I’ve never said that it is this party you should vote for. Because in RCCG, our members belong to all parties.
“The only reason I’ve never voted is because if I vote for anyone it will be unjust if I don’t vote for others.
“I’m the father of all. All I’m saying is we are all Nigerians. Nobody is born a Christian. You are a Nigerian before you became a Christian.
“You have a duty to your country, to belong to any party of your choice even at the grassroots. You can’t sit down hands folded and begin to complain about government.
“They chose for you because you refused to do anything. You must register. You must vote. You must sit down and ensure the counting.
“You must make sure that there’s no more rigging. I don’t care who you vote for. I will pray for this nation. Nobody can distract. We need to pray even more. Because there are some problems.
“Do you want to know the truth?
As of now, I still don’t know whether or not there’ll be an election next year.
“Adeboye does not know yet. Because my father hasn’t talked to me about it at all,” he enthused.
“Help me beg God that these political gymnasts should leave me alone.
“Anybody who comes to me from any party, I’ll pray. Just one prayer for each party that comes is that God’s perfect will be done for such person.
“The most high rules in the affairs of men and He gives it to whoever He pleases.
“So if witches are showing interest in politics, should Christians go and sleep?” he queried.
