Emefiele Gets Bail In N300m Sum

JUSTICE Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has granted former CBN covernor Godwin Emefiele bail in the sum of N300m with two sureties in like sum and is to deposit his travel documents.

These sureties, he ruled, must be owners of landed property in Maitama, and they’re to deposit the certificate of occupancy of their properties.

Meanwhile, the Justice Muazu ordered that Emefiele be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending fulfillment of the bail conditions.

Full trial of the former CBN governor begins November 28.

Besides Emefiele’s travel documents being confiscated, he must remain within the jurisdiction of the FCT.

He is to be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre pending the fulfillment of bail conditions.

In the interim, Justice Muazu has ordered that Emefiele be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Center.
