EMIR Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, has urged Kano youths not to attack innocent non-indigenous community members in retaliation for the killing of 16 Hausa travelers from Kano in Uromi, Edo State.
Speaking after leading Eid-el-fitr prayers at the Kofar Mata Eid ground, Sanusi warned against reprisal attacks, emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order.
Sanusi’s warning came after receiving information that some youths planned to launch attacks on non-indigenes following the Eid prayers.
He instructed them to stand down, emphasizing that taking the law into their own hands would only lead to chaos.
Instead, Sanusi called on traditional leaders to be vigilant and on authorities to investigate and prosecute those responsible for the killings.
In addition to addressing the violence, Sanusi also encouraged Muslim faithful to apply the lessons learned during Ramadan to their daily lives, avoiding sinful behavior and wrongdoing.
The Emir’s words aimed to promote peace and justice in the face of tragedy.
