Finally Wike, Fubara Reconcile After Tinubu’s Intervention

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that he and suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, have resolved their differences, declaring, “We’ve all agreed to work together.”

Wike made this known on Thursday night during an interview following a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The meeting was also attended by Governor Fubara and lawmakers of the suspended Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.

Tribune Online reports that President Tinubu, on 18 March, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State after a prolonged political crisis, suspending the governor, deputy governor, and members of the state House of Assembly for six months.

Flanked by Fubara and Amaewhule, Wike stated that the political tension which led to the declaration of the emergency has now been resolved.

“We have all agreed to work together. Everything is over. We are members of the same political family,” Wike affirmed.

“As humans, we have disagreements. We also have time to settle the disagreements. There is no more acrimony. Everything is over. It’s a day we have to thank the Almighty.”

Governor Fubara, in his remarks, praised the President for his timely intervention, stressing the importance of preserving peace and political stability in the state.

“It’s important that this day has come. What we need in Rivers is peace.
