Gun Duel Leaves 2 Soldiers, 4 Gunmen Feared Killed In Anambra

A fierce gun battle between gunmen and troops of the Nigerian Army keeping watch at troubled South East of Nigeria has reportedly left two soldiers and four gunmen killed.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning at Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, Stonix News gathered.

The daredevil gunmen were said to have stormed a military checkpoint at Isuofia in a Toyota Venza car and attacked the soldiers at their duty post

The gunmen allegedly fired indiscriminately while the soldiers also responded, leaving behind head casualties on both sides.

About two days ago, some gunmen allegedly stormed Ufuma – Ezira area in Orumba South Local Government Area, robbed a bullion van and allegedly killed three persons.

Meanwhile, confirming the Isuofia incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said that the situation has been brought under control.

“The situation is under control, meanwhile four of the criminal elements were neutralized and police/military patrols has been intensified in the area.

“The joint task force also recovered some of their operational vehicles which included a Venza jeep and others.

“Further details shall be communicated, please, as operation is still ongoing,” he said.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Information Mr Paul Nwosu, also confirmed the attack, saying it is part of the policy trust of the Soludo administration in ensuring security of lives and property In the state.
