Gunmen Shoot 2 In Sapele Amid Exiting Investors

A young barber and one Misan Aniretan have been shot by yet-to-apprehended gunmen along Laboard Road by Commercial Avenue, Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident occurred on Friday evening as the rampaging gunmen suddenly opened fire on the victims.

Stonix News gathered that one of the victims, Misan Aniretan, died from bullet wounds sustained in the early hours of Saturday.

He was said to have been administered with six pints of blood to restore the haemorrhage suffered as a result of the gunshots injuries he had sustained.

It could not be ascertained if it was a cult-related attack or not, but Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, refuted the claim of fatality.

On enquiry by Stonix News on Saturday morning, Edafe said no death was recorded in the Friday incident.

“He didn’t die; he was shot in the leg. The police took him to the hospital and he’s responding to treatment,” he claimed.

Meanwhile, residents of Sapele and environs have cried out over the gradual exit of investors due to the alarming insecurity in the area.

They said Sapele fast gradually experiencing what chased away oil multinationals such as Shell and others from Warri, rendering the oil-rich, bubbling city economically barren.

A resident said the incessant killing and sporadic shootings in Sapele have also continued to scare the youth, who are indigenes, away from coming home to invest.

“Those with multi-million naira investments in the town are relocating due to the insecurity that has bedeviled the town,” the resident, who craved anonymity, lamented.
