Horror In Delta! As Security Agents Recover Remains Of Murdered Policemen

Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

HORROR is an understatement as a combined team of security agents and local vigilantes have reportedly recovered the decomposing remains of six of some missing police cops in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Stonix News reports that the slain policemen were recently drafted from IRT Abuja, PMF 51 Oghara and Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Asaba, Delta State to rescue three missing officers in Ohoror community, Ughelli North, but met their deaths in the hands of suspected killer herdsmen.

It was gathered that the security team combed the forest of Agadama on Sunday and Monday and their efforts were rewarded with the recovery of six of the corpses of the missing policemen.

It will be recalled that on January, 24, 2024, three police officers were detailed to respond to a distress call by one Moses Progress (now at large) who was allegedly robbed by suspected herdsmen while performing a sacrifice to the gods of the river under a bridge close to a nipping point at Ohoror community.

The three officers, all said to be Inspectors, detailed to respond to the distress call, are some of the police officers said to still be missing till date.

One of the police officers, an inspector, who escaped by the whiskers, had reported to the authorities that six policemen were killed, and 15 others are still missing.

In spite of the revelations, the Delta State Police Command hasn’t responded to the tragedy till date.

A report by Vanguard revealed that the combined team of security agents, who recovered the six corpses of the slain policemen, also destroyed the enclaves of the herdsmen in Agadama forest of the community.

“The recovered corpses of the officers have been deposited at Mariere Central Hospital morgue in Ughelli.

“While depositing them at the morgue, some officials of the Delta State government were with the vigilante members, though it was not confirmed if the officials were representatives of the government.

“They spent over three hours at the hospital morgue during the documentation before being attended to at Ughelli Central Hospital,” the paper had quoted a senior police officer as saying.
