A 27-year-old son CHINALU Ogbonna, allegedly plucked out the left eye of his father, one Mmaduka Ogbonna, for ritual purpose after strangling him to death in Umuahia, Abia State.
Chinalu reportedly strangled his 57-year-old father to death and gouged out his left eye with the purpose of using it for money ritual.
According to sources, the incident happened at midnight on Monday, February 26, 2024 at a compound opposite one Junior Secondary School, in Amuzukwu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of the State.
The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Maureen Chinaka.
The PPRO confirmed that a report was lodged at CPS Umuahia at about 8am on Tuesday about a young man plucking out the left eye of his father after strangling him to death.
According to a statement obtained by Stonix News, ASP Chinaka said:
“Detectives from CPS Umuahia visited the crime scene and found the deceased’s lifeless body with his left eye gouged out.
“The suspect, Chinalu Ogbonna, a 27-year-old male residing with his father at Umueze Road, opposite Junior Girls Secondary School Amuzukwu Ibeku, has been apprehended.
“Investigations revealed that he strangled his father to death and intended to use his left eye for money rituals. The corpse has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy and exhibits have been recovered.”
The Police PPRO added that “the case is currently under investigation and will be charged to court.”
