SEVERAL motorists are feared dead following a fatal road accident along the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway on Saturday evening, 14 February.
The crash, which reportedly involved a trailer and a fully loaded commercial bus, occurred near the popular Four-Corner Junction under circumstances eyewitnesses described as devastating.
A road user who spoke to our correspondent said he counted “over five lifeless bodies” at the scene shortly after the collision.
According to the eyewitness, the accident may have been caused by a vehicle driving against traffic, commonly referred to as one-way driving.
Emergency responders, including officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, were seen at the scene assisting victims and working to ease the heavy congestion that followed the crash.
As at the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to release an official casualty figure.
Further details are expected as investigations continue and once the Police or the FRSC issue an official statement.
