How 99 Passengers Were Rescued In Rivers Boat Collision


NINETY-NINE passengers were successfully rescued from a boat accident on the Bukuma River in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

This was confirmed by Commodore Cajethan Aniaku, Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, through a statement released by the base’s spokesperson, Lt.-Cdr. Bridget Bebia, on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on April 29 at approximately 10:55 a.m. when a wooden passenger boat named Blood of Jesus, en route from Port Harcourt to Akuku-Toru LGA, collided head-on with a barge named Damen Buba near the Tuma area, roughly 300 metres from Naval Security Station 035.
