How Gunmen Abducted 10 Worshippers, Plus Imam In Sokoto Mosque 

THE Nigerian Police Force, Sokoto State Command, has confirmed and given details of abducted worshippers during (Subhi) Muslim early morning prayer in Bushe community, Sabon Birni Local Government.

The spokesman of the command, DSP Ahmed Rufai, while speaking with journalists in the state on Friday morning, assured that the command is working in synergy with other security agents to rescue the victims. 

Media reports stated that suspected gunmen had in the early hours of Thursday, January 6, attacked a mosque in Bushe town, Sabon Birni Local Government Area and made away with no fewer than 10 worshipers including the Imam of the mosque.

A local source in the community said the incident happened in the early morning when worshipers were performing their (Subhi) early morning prayer.

The source said the gunmen had been molesting the people of the community for some time now, even with the presence of security agents especially troops of operation FASAN YAMMA, from 8 Division headquarters.

He said the quick intervention of the security agents led by the troops of the Nigerian Army, curtailed the activities of the gunmen, but we’re still able to make away with the victims.

Also confirming the incident, a member of the state House of Assembly, representing the community, Sa’idu Ibrahim, said no fewer than 10 persons were taken away in the process.

He confirmed that the quick intervention of the troops of Operation Fasan Yamma, was the saving grace that helped in limiting the number of persons abducted.
