How Wife Passed After Romp With Herb-Assisted Husband

A 34-year-old man, identified as Eric Katinala, has been charged with the m^rder of his wife, Martha Ndakala, following a fatal romp in Zambia.

Giving his defence before the Judge-in-charge, Emelia Sunkutu in Ndola High Court in Kasama, Katinala narrated that his wife passed after he had taken a traditional herbal sexual enhancer called Mtototo.

He explained that he had recently returned home to Kasama from Mansa, where he worked as an automobile panel beater and spray painter, to relocate his wife and child.

“I had returned from Mansa where I was working as an automobile panel beater and spray painter,” he said. “I was given a one-week break by my employer so that I could move my wife and child from Kasama to Mansa,” he said.

Katinala told the court that after spending a day at home, he and his wife decided to go for a drink at a place called Esco and that as they were drinking, a businessman selling traditional herbal medicines known as Congo Dust and Mtototo approached them.

“I bought the herbal medicine called Mtototo and then went home and while my wife was preparing supper, I took the herb.”

Katinala said that around 20:00 hours, he and his wife engaged in a romp and that during the encounter, they would hit themselves against the w@ll and the floor while changing positions.

According to him, after some time, Martha said she was tired and asked for water to drink and to pour on her body.

“She told me she was tired and asked me to give her water to drink and pour some on her body and after she took the water, we continued with the s€xual encounter,” he said.

Katinala revealed that during the act, Martha hit the back of her head against the wall and thereafter, they both slept.

He told the court that around 5:00 hours the following morning, he tried to wake his wife, she woke up and told him that she was feeling dizzy.

“After she woke up, I went to make a fire to prepare food for her.

“While outside, my brother-in-law visited and we had a chat and my brother-in-law left. After he left, Katinala I heard a child crying and when I went inside to check, I found my wife unconscious.

“I then went to my in-law’s place so that we could take her to the hospital. We later took her to Kasama General Hospital where the doctor informed me that she has died and that I should report the matter to the police,” he narrated.

When asked why he did not immediately inform his wife’s family about what had caused her d€ath, Katinala explained: “It was difficult to explain exactly what had transpired. “Traditionally, it is considered taboo to explain bedroom matters to in-laws, and so I had to confide in my parents.”

A forensic pathologist’s report presented to the court revealed “blood collection in the head” and “neck injuries” on the deceased.

Katinala, however, suggested, that the neck injuries could have been a result of the different positions they took during the s€xual encounter.

When questioned by the State if the encounter was violent, Katinala insisted, that it was not violent but unique.
