TENSION has gripped Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State following allegations that armed personnel of the Nigerian Navy invaded Obe-Adun and Obenla communities, destroying homes and livelihoods worth millions of naira.

The alleged destruction by the navy
In a petition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federation of Ugbo Youths Association accused naval officers attached to the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Igbokoda, led by Navy Captain Aliyu Usman, of “wanton destruction, looting, and arson” during an operation on 18th October 2025.

The group claimed the attack left several houses, shops, and businesses burnt — including the home and bakery of Apostle Omosowone Okun Michael — while residents, including women and children, fled into the forest.

Houses destroyed
“Our people were brutalised and traumatised by men who were meant to protect them. The economic loss is no less than ₦100 million,” said the group’s president, Hon. Akinmuyiwe Abiodun.
They urged President Tinubu to order an investigation, punish those responsible, and compel the Navy to rebuild destroyed properties and compensate victims.

Allegedly destroyed houses
“Spilling animal blood and desecrating our land without rites violate our customs and must be cleansed,” the petition added.

Destroyed bakery
The statement was copied to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Commissioner of Police, and the DSS Director in Akure.

Wasted bread and bakery
The Nigerian Navy has yet to respond to the allegations as of press time.
