JUST IN: Over 20 Medical Students Kidnapped In Benue


NO fewer than 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, have been kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State, Nigeria.

The kidnapped students were from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos.

They were on their way to attend the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) in Enugu when they were intercepted and kidnapped.

The kidnapping occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of Benue State, where the students were ambushed by the gunmen while travelling together.

The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, has confirmed the incident.

He said an investigation had been launched into the abduction.

“Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing,” he noted.
