KWARA State Police Command have, on Friday 13th, arrested a 23-year-old internet fraud suspect, Awoleye Oluwatofunmi, for allegedly duping American national of one thousand US dollars ($1000).
According to the state’s police commissioner, Paul Odama, the suspect presented himself to his victim, Vonapolouis Moss, as an American on TikTok, with the username Howard Adams, and defrauded her of $1000.

Later on, the suspect took a bold step by luring the victim to fly into Nigeria on January 9, 2023, through the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
Commissioner Paul Odama also confirmed that the victim flew into Ilorin the following day after her arrival at the airport, and was received by Oluwatofunmi, the suspect, before he was arrested by the operatives.
Stonix News gathered that before his arrest, the suspect allegedly took an unspecified amount of dollars from the victim, before she was rescued by policemen.
The victim has been moved to an undisclosed location pending her return to the United States.
“The command would continue to discharge its duties with a full sense of responsibility and be willing at all times to respect the rights of every citizen.
“The necessary authorities have been contacted for appropriate action,” Odama said.
