A master has allegedly beaten his apprentice to death in a carpenter workshop in Sapele, Delta State, over an alleged lateness to work.
The incident accurred at the master’s workshop located along New Ogorode Road, Sapele recently.
The owner of the workshop, identified as Orunor, also allegedly accused the apprentice of stealing his ATM card, one of the reasons he decided to discipline the boy through beating.
After the alleged beating, the apprentice, identified as Onome, on reaching home, allegedly began to complain of pains all over his body to his parents.
Sources said the apprentice explained to his parents what transpired between him and his boss at work.
The parents of the apprentice decided to take him to the hospital for checkup, but allegedly died before he could be attended to.
Sources said Onome’s boss, Orunor, on being intimated of the demise of the boy, allegedly bolted into hiding.
Operatives of the Nigeria Police, Sapele Area Command, are said to be in trail to arrest the fleeing Orunor.
