GOSPEL singer, Mercy Chinwo, is taking social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) to court, suing him for N1.1 billion over alleged defamation.
The lawsuit stems from VDM’s Instagram posts accusing Chinwo of withholding earnings from her performances and violating contractual agreements with her former record label, EeZee Concept.

Chinwo’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, claims VDM’s statements were “libelous, malicious, and damaging” to the singer’s reputation.
The legal document states that VDM was never personally involved in the dispute between Chinwo and EeZee Tee, yet still made defamatory statements.
Stonix News reports that Chinwo is seeking:
- N1 billion in general damages
- N100 million in punitive and aggravated damages
- N25 million to cover legal expenses

She’s also demanding that VDM:
- Delete the alleged defamatory posts
- Issue a public apology
- Publish retractions in four national newspapers for 14 consecutive days
Recall that the dispute between Chinwo and EeZee Concept began with financial disagreements after she left the label.
Chinwo accused EeZee Tee of mismanaging $345,000 from her digital platforms and events without proper disclosure or remittance.
