Natasha Nightmare: Curfew Declared in Okehi LGA

AHEAD of the visit of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to her hometown, the Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area, Mr Amoka Eneji Monday, has imposed a curfew across the LGA to maintain peace and order.

This follows a recent ban on all political rallies and unregulated public gatherings within the area.

Stonix News reports that there has been no reported breach of public order until the state government, announced a ban on rally and public gatherings obviously to water down the visit of the distinguished Senator.

The curfew, which takes immediate effect, restricts movement and prohibits unauthorised gatherings in designated areas.

The press statement further hinted that anyone found violating the directive by assembling or moving around restricted zones without official permission will be arrested and prosecuted.

The enforcement of this measure, it said, aligned with directives from the Kogi State Government and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police.

Mr Amoka emphasised the necessity of this action, stating, “The safety and security of our people are our top priority. We will not tolerate any actions that could compromise the peace and stability of our communities.”

The decision to implement the curfew is a proactive step aimed at preventing potential security breaches and ensuring public safety.

The Okehi LGA administration is collaborating with security agencies to monitor the situation and take necessary actions as required.

The ban on political rallies and unregulated public gatherings forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to uphold law and order.

The government has also been working to curb the spread of misinformation and ensure that all gatherings remain peaceful and lawful.

Residents of Okehi LGA are urged to cooperate with authorities and adhere to the restrictions to maintain stability within the region.

The administration calls on the public to remain calm and continue their lawful activities while security agencies work to enforce compliance.

Meanwhile, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has, on Tuesday, insisted that rallies will hold while on her visit to her people on the occasion of the Sallah Celebration.

Akpoti-Uduaghan has publicly held Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio responsible for any potential violence at her planned homecoming to Kogi Central.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the senator reaffirmed her commitment to a peaceful gathering while warning that any disruption or violence should be blamed on the trio.

“My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our PEACEFUL Sallah celebrations today. However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov Òdodo, Yahaya Bello & SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible,” she wrote.

Her post comes amid growing tension surrounding her visit, which the Kogi State Government and police authorities have attempted to halt. The state recently imposed a ban on political gatherings, citing security concerns, and the police urged Akpoti-Uduaghan to cancel her rally in Okene to prevent possible unrest.

With the controversy surrounding her visit, all eyes will be on Kogi Central as the Sallah festivities unfold.

The delectable lady has been on a running battle with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, over alleged sexual harassment which has earned Natasha a six-month suspension from the senate including the withdrawal of her security details.

An alleged concocted collated signatures of the electorate from the Kogi Central Senatorial District which Akpoti-Uduaghan represents at the Senate, has been submitted to the Nigerian electoral empire, INEC, for a recall of the senator.
