LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — A fresh wave of leadership thinking is emerging with the release of The Playbook of A Leader Who Really Cares, a groundbreaking book that draws inspiration from the life of Nehemiah, the 5th-century BCE Jewish governor famed for his resilience and reformist vision.
Written by Nigerian-born scholar and entrepreneur, Babatunde Oladele, the book distils 44 practical leadership principles from Nehemiah’s story, offering insights that remain profoundly relevant to business executives, policymakers, ministers, and community organisers today.
“Nehemiah wasn’t just rebuilding walls — he was rebuilding hope, dignity, and justice,” an excerpt from the book notes. “His story embodies the principles of value-based leadership long before they became modern buzzwords like advocacy, alignment, data collection, needs assessment, participatory governance, and urban planning.”

The book
Unlike many leadership manuals that remain in the realm of theory, The Playbook of A Leader Who Really Cares blends historical analysis, biblical wisdom, and modern application. Each principle is carefully illustrated with real-world parallels, ranging from burden for people, mission clarity, foresight, and social justice to practical strategies for dealing with adversaries, detractors, and systemic stumbling blocks.
According to Oladele, the book is not only a call for ethical leadership but also a roadmap for creating lasting impact in an era marked by distrust and crisis. “We live in a world hungry for authentic leadership. This book demonstrates that values such as compassion, justice, and vision are not outdated ideals — they are urgent necessities for the survival of institutions and societies,” he said.
Key highlights include:
- 44 leadership principles arranged thematically from vision to legacy.
- Practical lessons for navigating adversaries, fake prophets, and scaremongers.
- Contemporary application across governance, corporate strategy, and civic movements.
- Universal appeal for leaders in the public, private, and faith-based sectors.
Oladele, who holds master’s degrees from the University of Ibadan and the Clinton School of Public Service in Arkansas, is currently pursuing a PhD in Leadership at the University of the Cumberlands, USA. Beyond academia, he is the founder of The Ready Writers Consult and TRW Consult, and serves as Executive Director of the Literary Renaissance Foundation, which champions literacy and access to education in Nigeria.
With several publishing ventures under his belt — including Agric News, Feminine Digest, Masculine Digest, Techie Digest and STEM Trends — Oladele has established himself as a leading voice in communication, literacy, and leadership training.
“I see myself first as a student of life,” Oladele explained. “My goal is to help people discover purpose, drive productivity, and achieve performance that leaves a legacy.”
The book is available globally on Amazon, Apple Books, and Google Books, in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover editions.
For Oladele, The Playbook of A Leader Who Really Cares is more than a publication; it is a movement for leaders across the world to rebuild not just structures, but people.
