New Fund To Upgrade National Sports Festival Venues

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

THE National Sports Commission (NSC) has launched a new infrastructure programme designed to strengthen sporting facilities in states chosen to host the National Sports Festival (NSF).

The initiative was announced by the NSC’s Director-General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, during the opening ceremony of the inaugural West Africa Para Games in Abeokuta this weekend.

According to Olopade, the landmark scheme is intended to ensure host states receive direct support to build and upgrade their sporting infrastructure.

The goal is to elevate the overall quality, safety, and global competitiveness of the Festival.

As part of this newly approved programme, Enugu State, which is set to host the next National Sports Festival, will be the first beneficiary.

The Director-General emphasised that the commission will work closely with the Enugu State Government to construct a new, modern swimming complex that meets international standards.

The states earmarked to host the 2028 and 2030 editions of the Festival will also benefit from the support programme.
