NUC Receives €3m to Launch ICT Projects in Universities

By Micheal Chukwuebuka

Nigeria’s drive to strengthen digital infrastructure across its universities has gained fresh momentum, following the release of an initial €3 million to commence ICT projects in ten selected institutions.

The fund represents the first tranche of a $40 million loan secured from the French Development Agency (AFD) to enhance teaching, research, and administrative efficiency through technology.

The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, announced the development during the inaugural meeting of the 13th NUC Board in Abuja.

Professor Ribadu noted that since assuming office, the Commission has intensified reforms aimed at repositioning the university system through research-driven initiatives, entrepreneurship development, digital transformation, and improved skills training.
