THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the official statistics for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), revealing that only 21.5 percent of candidates scored above 200.
Announced on Monday, 5 May 2025, via the Board’s official handle on X, the data shows that out of 1,955,069 candidates who sat the examination, just 420,415 scored above the 200 marks.
The breakdown is as follows: 4,756 candidates (0.24%) scored 320 and above; 7,658 (0.39%) scored between 300 and 319; 73,441 (3.76%) scored between 250 and 299; and 334,560 (17.11%) scored between 200 and 249.
In the lower bands, 983,187 candidates (50.29%) scored between 160 and 199, while 488,197 (24.97%) scored between 140 and 159.
The data underscores a significant drop in high-performing candidates, with nearly four out of five students scoring 200 or below in the 2025 UTME.
