A truck driver was injured after the truck he was driving plunged from the Pen Cinema Bridge located in the Agege area of Lagos State, landing upon two commercial buses stationed beneath.
The yet-to-be-identified driver, according to reports, suffered grievous fractures to both arms.
The fully-laden truck with registration number: GGE 624 YJ, smashed two painted commercial Volkswagen buses, but thankfully, both buses were empty at the time of the incident, preventing what could have been a major tragedy.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, the driver of the truck lost control while attempting to navigate his way on the bridge, leading to the truck falling off the bridge.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, while expressing profound concern, admonished all motorists, particularly truck operators, to exhibit heightened vigilance and circumspection, especially with the onset of the rainy season.
Mr Bakare-Oki also extended heartfelt wishes for the rapid and full recovery of the injured driver.
