2023 Governorhip Election

PDP Agents Redeem N800 To Electorate In Warri

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

AGENTS of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who came to solicit votes from the electorate at Ogandeji Street, Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, last Saturday March 14, have redeemed their pledge of N200, 000 which amounted to N800 per head.

The desperation to acquire votes by crooked means came after the Peter Obi hurricane swept across the state during the February 25 presidential election which the party lost in spite of having Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the Vice Presidential Candidate.

The party agents had promised N200,000 for the residents at Okandeji Street to vote for the PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Sheriff Oborevwori, and collected names of would-be voters ahead of Saturday, March 18 Governorship and House of Assembly Elections.

Stonix News recalled that 79 and 85 women had dropped their names, phone numbers, and account numbers (of the men), promising to transfer their share to them.

Stonix News had reported that the said N200,000 was transferred an appointed leader of the men and women who was detailed to share the money among the beneficiaries.

Barely three days later, one of the men who wrote down their names, simply identified as Philipo, told our reporter Saturday night that he had received N800 only from the N200,000.

He said: “With all their promises, it’s only N800 these people transfered into my account O. Does it mean that it’s N800 I’m going to live on in the next four years they’d be in power? It’s not their fault, I don’t know if they saw us as hungry men.”

Some of the women who also wrote down their names and have been waiting patiently for redemption of the largesse, however, said they’ve not received their share of the money as of the time of filing this report.
