A few years back, I was an NPOWER volunteer. Towards the end of 2020, the Nigerian Government stopped NPOWER abruptly; I was almost stranded.
My first thought was to go back to private school teaching, but, then, I knew I could not return to full-time employment in a private secondary school.

For me, going back to full-time employment in a private secondary school would be like a suicide mission; it may kill my vision.
With my experience with some private secondary schools in Ibadan, I know many private secondary schools do not support career growth.
I planned to go for further studies, but knew that might not be easily achievable for me as an employee in a private secondary school. I needed to re-strategise.
Eventually, I got an opportunity to teach Phonics on part-time in a school. I was not trained and I didn’t know how to go about it.
I accepted the offer, but I went to a friend who had been teaching Phonics for some years and asked her to train me. She put me through the basics.

Later, she invited me to join her; she needed an extra hand. I worked with her and learned from her.
Eventually, I became a pro. I had many schools where I taught Phonics on part-time and I had time for my personal development.

I needed to register for a course, but full-time employment in a private secondary school would not support this.
I needed to grow my career, my vision, and my purpose, but there was a barrier. You know what I did? I removed the barricade! I pursued my dream.
This year, do not allow anything to hinder you. Go for the goal! Pursue your dream! Remove the barricade! Rise above limitations and fly!
