Retired Delta Judge Found Dead At Home As Security Guard Disappears

RETIRED jurist, Justice Ifeoma Okogwu, has been found dead in her Asaba residence under circumstances described as both shocking and deeply suspicious.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night at her home situated behind The Pointer Newspapers in the Delta State capital. The family received the tragic news on Monday morning.

Confirming the development to The Pointer, the victim’s brother, Ogbueshi Godfrey Okogwu, said: “My eldest sister was murdered in her house on Sunday night. We only received the news on Monday morning, so we presume the incident happened during the night.”

A key complication in the unfolding investigation is the disappearance of the night security guard assigned to the property.

According to the family, the morning guard arrived at the residence to find the gate left wide open.

“He said he simply sat there. Sat there doing what? I do not know. I do not understand this situation at all,” the distraught brother stated, questioning the conduct of the guards on duty.

The family has provided the police with the identity and details of the private security company responsible for the personnel.

Police have reportedly detained the morning guard and invited the owner of the security company for questioning, although it remains unclear whether the individual has honoured the summons.

Okogwu also revealed that his sister’s residence had been thoroughly ransacked, with clear signs that she had been restrained before her death.

He emphasised that the family is awaiting official findings, saying:

“Only God knows what truly happened. We will not know anything concrete until the Police complete their investigations.”

Meanwhile, confirming the incident to Stonix News in Warri on Friday, the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, said: “we have two suspects in custody, while one of the security is at large.”
