Obinna while alive
A young man, identified as Obinna was, on Tuesday morning, shot dead by a stray bullet while pasting burial posters on the wall.
The incident happened at Umuaka town, Njaba Local Government Area in Imo State, while the deceased hailed from Duruji village but resident in Umuaka Town.
The stray bullet is suspected to have come from rampaging armed soldiers combing communities in the area for gunmen.
A 22-second video footage sent by an eyewitness to Stonix News shows the young man on the floor in the pool of his blood being wept over by a crowd of young folks.
A source from the community told Stonix News exclusively that the deceased, Obinna, was the fifth child of his family.
“He has four elder sisters, and an immediate younger brother,” the source added.
Another source said the incident happened Tuesday morning at about 8:00a.m.
“It happened in my home town.. and the deceased happens to be a relative of mine.. not a close relative, though,” one Mr Mike told Stonix News.
He added: “They were all on their way to post a burial remembrance posters when he was killed by a stray bullet.
“My brother said soldiers were chasing some unidentified men, in a car when the incident happened.”
Official reactions from the police and army authorities were not yet forthcoming as of the time of filing the report.
