As it appears the heat has shifted to the high and mighty in Nigeria’s booming banditry business, suspected terrorists have killed a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rilwanu Gadagau, along the Kaduna-Zaria Highway.
Gadagau was representing Giwa Constituency in the state’s House of Assembly.
He was the Chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Rural Development in the state’s House of Assembly.
He reportedly met his untimely death on Monday night as bandits swooped on travellers along the dangerous road.
The body of the lawmaker was later discovered on Wednesday morning.
Reaction from the Police authorities in Kaduna is still being awaited.
A family member of the deceased has, however, disclosed that Gadagau’s body was found near Mawai, a village just about 13 kilometres from the Kaduna State capital.
Another traveller, one Sani Dogara, was among those reportedly killed by the bandits.
He was said to be among the over 30 travellers who were abducted by the bandits on the road in an operation said to have lasted for over two hours.
