A suspected iron-scavenging thief was, Sunday morning, beaten to a pulp by an angry mob in Asaba, Delta State.
The recalcitrant iron scavenger was reportedly caught stealing pieces of iron at a foundation-laying building site along Okpanam Road, Okpanam, in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.
Suspect
Sources said after the suspect, whose name was not given, was initially caught, he escaped only to return when he thought that his chasers had left the scene.
They said he was again chased into a woman’s house around Eagle’s Square where he was eventually caught and brought back to the building site where he was descended on heavily.
As of the time of filing the report, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, hadn’t responded to confirm if he had been handed over to the police.
