Three Yoruba kings from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have reportedly passed in a tragic and fatal auto-crash on Friday.
The auto crash involved a Benz E230 with Registration Number OLODOGBO and a commercial Scania Truck with Registration Number 301 XF at Aje Iye in the local government area.
Reports say two of the affected monarchs died on the spot of the crash, while the third died a few hours later at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, where they were rushed to.
Sources said six occupants were involved in the crash, among which three died, while the three survivors are also undergoing treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.
The six were said to be headed for a social function in the nearby community when the accident occurred.
The affected monarchs were: Olodogbo of Odogbo, Onibowula of Bowula and Alayetoro of Ayetoro in the Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Joshua Adekanye, who confirmed the tragic incident, said it was a head-on collision involving a private and a commercial vehicle along Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway.
He said the survivors were undergoing treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital while the corpses have been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.
Similarly, Adekanye disclosed that nine, out of 13 persons, suffered various degrees of burns when a DAF brand truck caught fire along the deplorable Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway on the same day.
He added that no life was, however, lost, while the injured are receiving treatment in the hospital.
