FORMER President Donald Trump, on Monday, said that he wants to debate President Joe Biden ahead of November’s general election.
Trump suggested during a radio interview on The Dan Bongino Show, that he would like to immediately debate his White House successor.
“I’d like to debate him now because we should debate. We should debate for the good of the country,” Trump said.
In response to Trump’s challenge, Biden told reporters during a stop in Nevada Monday when asked whether he would agree to the challenge to debate him immediately, saying:
“Immediately? Well, if I were him, I’d want to debate me, too.
“He’s got nothing else to do.”
Meanwhile, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s campaign seized on Trump’s debate comments on Monday, saying it is thrilled that he has finally acknowledged the importance of debates.
“Now it’s time for Trump to man up and agree to debate Nikki Haley.
“Nikki is ready to put her conservative record and vision for a strong and proud America up against Trump’s campaign of chaos and vendettas,” Haley spokesperson Olivia Perez-Cubas said in a statement.
