Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting
THE two Catholic priests, Rev. Fr. Raphael Ogigbah and Rev. Fr. Kunav Chochos, abducted at Agbarha-Otor town in Delta State have been freed by their abductors.
But in a swift response to the report, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, debunked the news to Stonix News, saying though the police is closing in on the kidnappers, the duo have not been rescued.
Recall that the priests, Rev. Fr. Raphael Ogigbah, Parish Priest of St. Francis Catholic Parish, Agbarha-Otor, Catholic Diocese of Warri, and Rev. Fr. Kunav Chochos, a Missionary Priest of the Schoenstartt Fathers, were abducted on Saturday night.
A senior priest from the diocese said the victims were freed on Thursday afternoon, adding that they have been reunited with the leadership of the Catholic Diocese of Warri.
It could not be ascertained if ransoms of N20 million earlier demanded by the hoodlums were paid to secure their release as of the time of filing the report.
Recall that Frs. Ogigbah and Chochos were kidnapped at the front of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, Agbarha-Otor in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Chochos, who works and lives in Ibadan, Oyo State, was on a visit to his friend, Fr Ogigbah, at Agbarha-Otor, the hometown of famous Ibru family.
