Two among five persons who drowned while fleeing the scene of last Friday inferno at Matrix Energy Group have been confirmed as students of the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Delta State.
The Student Union Government (SUG) of PTI made the disclosure in a statement mourning the deceased.
They were said to on industrial attachment (IT) when the incident occurred.
Stonix News had earlier reported that bodies of five persons, whose identities weren’t disclosed, were found floating near the energy facility in Warri river some three days after the inferno on Friday, July 8, 2022.
The two IT students were identified as National Diploma graduates of PTI – Comr. Omare Sunny and Comr. Godstime Chuks of the departments of Mechanical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering.
Until the five bodies including those of the students were recovered, Matrix Energy had earlier released a statement to the effect that there were no casualty.
In its statement, the PTI SUG, has, however, urged Matrix to debunk the “misguided information” and reach out to families of their deceased students.
