Two persons have been rescued from a fire that engulfed a branch of the United Bank of Africa (UBA) in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The State Police Command’s Public Relations Officers, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, made the disclosure in a statement, in Awka, on Friday.
He said the incident happened at UBA bank, opposite Ejison PLaza Main Market, Onitsha.
“Today 15/7/2022 at about 10:00a.m, Anambra State Police operatives rescued two victims of fire incident at UBA bank, opposite Ejison plaza Main Market, Onitsha.
“Preliminary information revealed that the fire incident emanated from the heat in the generator inside the bank.
“This made customers scamper to safety and in the process, some of the windows and doors got broken,” the statement read in part.
DSP Ikenga, however, disclosed that the fire had been put out and the situation being monitored.
