THE University of Ibadan has restated its unwavering commitment to the continuous improvement and credibility of its academic programmes through rigorous accreditation processes.
This affirmation was made by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnership), Professor Oluyemisi A. Bamgbose, SAN, while receiving a five-man team from the Architecture Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) on a courtesy visit. The team was on campus to accredit the Master of Science programme in the Department of Architecture.

Representing the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bamgbose emphasised that the University views accreditation not as an act of witch-hunting, but as a strategic and valuable process for identifying areas of strength and those needing improvement. “Such exercises,” she said, “enhance quality assurance, relevance, and standard, thereby boosting the credibility of our academic offerings.”
She stressed the University’s preparedness to train top-tier professionals in the field of architecture, noting that although the department is relatively young, it possesses the structural foundation, facilities, and committed staff necessary to produce distinguished practitioners.

Professor Bamgbose expressed confidence in the objectivity and professionalism of the ARCON team, assuring them of the University’s full cooperation and readiness to implement their recommendations.
Leading the ARCON delegation, Arc. F. Fawohunre explained that the visit was a follow-up to earlier accreditation efforts. He stated that the exercise aimed to evaluate the department’s compliance with previous recommendations relating to infrastructure, staffing, and curriculum development, with a view to achieving full accreditation.

Other members of the ARCON team include Arc. Moyo Uthman, Professor Olatunde Arayela, Arc. Fatai Falola, and Arc. Adesina Amoo.
