A 10-year-old Vietnamese boy, Ly Hao Nam, has been confirmed dead after falling into a narrow open shaft of a concrete pile at a construction site.
According to reports, Nam was heard crying for help shortly after he fell into the hollow concrete pile at a building construction site, where he had been searching for scrap iron, on Saturday 31st of December 2022.
Stonix News also learnt that rescuers spent over four days trying to free the boy from the 115-foot-long support pillar driven into the ground, but to no avail.
Although his body is yet to be recovered, the deputy chairman of the southern province of Dong Thap, Doan Tan Buu, has stated that the authorities are trying to recover the body of Nam.
“The authorities have determined that the victim has died and are trying to recover his body for funeral,” he said.
Also, the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, has urged rescuers and local authorities to mobilize all equipment and forces needed to recover the body of Nam.
