THE Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has hosted a dinner in the United Kingdom for suspended members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
A video posted on X by the Minister’s aide, Lere Olayinka, on Tuesday, 8 April, confirmed that Wike departed Nigeria on Sunday evening following a series of visits to political allies in Port Harcourt.

The dinner
According to Olayinka, the suspended lawmakers are currently in the UK for a Legislative Capacity Building programme.
He wrote: “Yesterday, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, hosted Rivers State House of Assembly members, who are in the United Kingdom for Legislative Capacity Building, to a dinner.
“Wike left Nigeria on Sunday night after visiting his political friends and associates in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.”
A statement released last week by Martins Wachukwu, media aide to the Speaker of the Rivers State Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, stated that the UK tour was designed to enhance the legislative competence of the lawmakers.

Wike and the lawmakers
Wachukwu explained that the five-day tour commenced in Central London and is being regarded by the lawmakers as a valuable opportunity for peer engagement and a deeper appreciation of parliamentary procedures.
