GUNMEN opened fire at a family celebration inside a Stockton banquet hall on Saturday evening, killing four people and injuring 10 others in what police believe was a targeted attack.
The shooting according to reports, erupted just before 6:00 pm in the hall, located northeast of San Francisco.
San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Heather Brent while briefing reporters, confirming that the victims from juveniles to adults were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Brent said investigators were still gathering details but had established that a family event was under way when the attackers struck.
“We have 14 victims of this shooting. Four of those are deceased,” she said.
She added that early findings point to a targeted incident, though detectives are examining every possible angle.
The sheriff’s office later posted an appeal on social media, urging residents to share any information, video evidence, or eyewitness accounts that could help the investigation.
Reports further said that detectives are working to determine what led to the deadly attack.
No suspect has yet been identified, and authorities have not disclosed a possible motive.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, the Stockton attack is among 504 mass shootings recorded in the United States so far this year, defined as incidents in which four or more people are shot.
