Fraudulent Consent Judgment Must Be Investigated — CDHR Warns Delta Government

THE Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has raised the alarm over what it termed a fraudulent “consent judgment” being used to justify the controversial boundary adjustment between Issele-Azagba and Okpanam communities in Delta State.

National President of the CDHR, Comrade Dr. Kehinde Prince Taiga, said in a statement that there was “credible evidence of procedural irregularities, exclusion of key stakeholders, and possible fraudulent manipulation of judicial processes.”

Quoting legal precedents, he noted that, “Consent judgments may be set aside where there is evidence of fraud, misrepresentation, or lack of proper authority. This case bears all the marks of such abuse.”

The human rights body called on the Delta State Governor and the State Boundary Committee to intervene immediately, insisting that the original local government boundaries must be respected unless altered transparently and lawfully.

Dr. Taiga added: “We urge government officials and the judiciary not to allow themselves to be used by land grabbers operating under the guise of ‘boundary realignment’. Justice must not be compromised.”

The CDHR pledged to continue pursuing legal avenues to protect the rights of the people, while urging the affected communities to remain peaceful and law-abiding.
