How I Struggled To Obtain A Letter For Three Days In Access, Fidelity Banks (Part 2)

Juliet Oladele, Reporting

SO after the disappointment at Fidelity Bank, I walked into Access Bank, Bodija branch in Ibadan, hoping things would be easier.

The queue wasn’t as bad as before, so I stayed. There was no seat at first, but a staff member later made space for me, which I appreciated.

I thought it would take about 30 minutes. But I ended up waiting for over an hour.

At first, only one staff member was attending to everyone. Later, another joined, but it was still very slow. It was taking almost 30 minutes to attend to just one person. I was even calculating in my head: how many people can they really attend to in a day like this?

Finally, it was my turn.

I explained what I needed, expecting a simple form like Fidelity gave me. But instead, I was told to write the letter myself from beginning to end.

I was surprised. But I followed the instructions and wrote it.

After that, she stamped it and told me they would send it to the head office. The head office would process it, send it back, then they would print it, get it signed, and give it to me.

It sounded like a long process, but I had already come this far, so I decided to wait.

Later, she came back and said what I wrote wasn’t correct, so I had to rewrite the letter.

At that point, I just did everything she said.

I asked if I would get it that day. She said yes but couldn’t give a specific time.

I waited… even past 4:00p.m.

Then she told me I might have to come back the following day.

After everything?

She then said their printer was faulty, and they had to send it somewhere else to print before bringing it back for signing.

At that moment, I realised I had spent my entire day going from one bank to another and still didn’t get what I came for.

Before I left, I was told to come back the following day by 10:00 a.m., and that by then, the letter should be ready.

At that point, I just hoped the next day wouldn’t be another disappointment…but…

To be continued…

‎📢 CALLING ALL NIGERIANS – BECOME A STONIX CITIZEN JOURNALIST!

‎At stonixnews.com, we believe the truth does not always live in press releases. Sometimes, it lives in the queue at the bank. In the waiting room of a general hospital. At the counter of a government ministry. Inside the lecture hall of a higher institution.

‎That is why we are launching the *Stonix Citizen Journalism Initiative* – a clarion call to every Nigerian with a mobile phone, a sharp eye, and a commitment to nation building.

‎✅ We will publish factual, verified reports.

‎✅ We will protect your identity if requested.

‎🔹 Your report must be free from malice – no name-calling, no personal vendettas.

‎🔹 Your report must avoid libel – stick to what happened, not what you assume.

‎WHY THIS MATTERS:

‎Nigeria will not change by accident. It will change when citizens refuse to remain silent. Whether you saw a nurse go the extra mile, a banker demand a bribe, a teacher show up drunk, or a civil servant display rare excellence – tell us. Posterity will thank you.
