IN a formidable display of political unity, the Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality Worldwide has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, for second terms in office, declaring that “continuity protects our projects.”
The endorsement, set to be cemented at a mega rally in Warri on May 16, 2026, comes under the theme: “The Itsekiri Stands with the Renewed Hope For M.O.R.E. Agenda — 4 + 4.”
Governor Oborevwori is expected to attend as Special Guest of Honour at the invitation of the Itsekiri people.

Citing tangible development across the three Warri local government areas, Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West, the Itsekiri leadership pointed to road projects, the Trans Ode-Itsekiri bridges, the Kolokolo to Tisun road, the ongoing Warri stadium project, and rural electrification in Ode-Itsekiri as proof of the governor’s delivery.
“We have seen, we believe,” the group’s media kit read. “The Itsekiri people do not change a winning team.”
The endorsement extends beyond the Itsekiri homeland to include indigenous Itsekiri from Delta Central Senatorial District, covering Uvwie, Sapele, Ethiope West, Ethiope East, Okpe and Udu LGAs, as well as those residing in Edo State.
On the federal level, the Itsekiri praised President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway passing through Delta State, the training of over 500 Itsekiri youths under the STEP and Job Creation programmes, the student loan scheme, Warri Port reforms, sustained peace in riverine communities, bold economic reforms, and the commitment to completing the East-West Road.
The rally aims to demonstrate Itsekiri political strength, formally deliver a motion of endorsement for “4 + 4” terms for both leaders, mobilise grassroots support ahead of 2027, and project Warri as a centre of political stability.
Highlights will include the governor’s arrival, a courtesy visit to the Olu of Warri, cultural displays, solidarity speeches by Itsekiri leaders, women and youth groups, and chants of “4 + 4.”
The Itsekiri Nation, custodians of the Warri Kingdom with a population exceeding one million, described the endorsement as voluntary and people-driven. “Warri stands for stability,” the group added.
