Family members and friends of Rev. Edwin Achi, an Anglican priest abducted alongside his wife, Mrs Sarah Achi, have appealed to President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the couple’s release nearly four weeks after their abduction.
Rev. Achi and his wife were kidnapped on 28 October 2025 when armed men invaded their residence in Nissi village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The kidnappers later contacted the family, demanding what relatives described as an “outrageous ransom” of N600 million.
Speaking on behalf of the family, relatives expressed deep anguish over the prolonged captivity of the couple and called for urgent government intervention.
“We are here with friends of our brother and his wife to appeal to all relevant authorities, especially President Tinubu, to help secure their release. We need your help now more than ever,” the family said.
The appeal comes in the wake of President Tinubu’s recent directive ordering the immediate rescue of abducted students in Kebbi and Niger States, with the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services, and the police engaged in intensive intelligence-led operations.
The family urged the President to extend the same level of urgency to the rescue of Rev. Achi and his wife, insisting that all kidnapping victims deserve equal national attention.
They also called on Nigerians of goodwill to remain steadfast in prayers for the couple’s safe return.
A photo released by the kidnappers shows the couple alongside other victims, underscoring the widening pattern of abductions and the persistent insecurity affecting communities across the country.

Rev. Edwin Achi serves with the Anglican Communion, Diocese of Kaduna, and hails from Umuaja in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.
As of today, he and his wife remain in captivity, with their family anxiously awaiting decisive action to bring them home.
